Car plunges into ravine in Gümülcine: 1 dead, 3 injured
A car carrying irregular migrants plunged into a ravine in a forested area of the Rhodope regional unit, leaving one person dead and three others injured. The accident occurred on the evening of Sunday, November 16.
According to the Rhodope Police Directorate, officers from the Sappes Border Guard Unit located the heavily damaged vehicle at the crash site. One migrant, whose identity has not yet been determined, was found dead. Three other migrants were rescued with injuries.
Firefighters extracted the injured individuals from the wreckage, after which they were transferred to hospitals in Gümülcine and Selanik for treatment.
Authorities stated that the Sappes Border Guard Unit has launched an investigation into the incident on charges of transporting irregular migrants within the country.
