Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board: “We invite our kinsmen to fill the mosques in Xanthi on Friday, September 9th

The Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board invited all kinsmen to go to mosques on the occasion of the mufti elections to be held in Xanthi.

In a statement, the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board invited the Minority to fill the mosques in Xanthi on Friday, September 9, in order to claim their identity, religion, Mufti and all of their usurped rights.

In its statement, the Advisory Board stated that the state mechanism of the country has taken action on the occasion of the mufti elections to be held in Xanthi, and that Xanthi politicians and members of the Turkish minority have been targeted recently.

Stating that the Western Thrace Turkish Minority will never give up on electing and protecting its Mufti, the Advisory Board emphasized that these “dirty” games played on the domestic-local political scene will never intimidate the society.

The statement of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board is as follows:

“Just after the announcement of the Mufti election date in Xanthi, the state mechanism of the country of which we are citizens took action against us.

It has also been clearly seen that the politician from Xanthi and members of the Turkish minority are particularly targeted. The Western Thrace Turkish Minority will never stop electing its Mufti and protecting its Mufti offices.

It is not possible for us and our community to be intimidated by these ‘dirty’ tricks that are intended to be played on us in the domestic political scene. On the contrary, these ‘dirty’ games will increase the determination and effort of our people.

We invite our minority once again to fill the mosques in Xanthi on Friday, September 9, to protect their identity, religion, Mufti offices and all their rights that have been usurped.

On the other hand, with the start of this election process, it has become clear who is walking with whom in both Türkiye and Greece.

Those who could not even say a word yesterday to the expectations of our minority and the adoption of the new Law on Mufti, which is against the law, are now arguing about the Mufti elections that will be held in accordance with the expectations of our people.

We fully believe that our people will evaluaet this situation in the best way.

On the other hand, there are politicians who seem to be making a statement of support, trying to mislead the target and shedding crocodile tears. They also have no judgments in the eyes of the community.”
