Call for dialogue from ABTTF for the mufti issue
The Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) called on Greece to establish a dialogue with the Turkish minority in order to resolve the mufti issue.
ABTTF congratulated Mustafa Trampa, who was elected Mufti of Xanthi, and expressed his support for the mufti.
The following statements were included in the statement of the ABTTF: “The Turkish community of Western Thrace went to elections on September 9, 2022, during the Friday prayer, using its right arising from the agreements for the office of mufti vacated after the death of the Mufti of Xanthi Ahmet Mete on July 14, 2022.
As the The Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF), the representative of the Western Thrace Turks living in Europe, we sincerely congratulate Mustafa Trampa, who was elected the new mufti of Xanthi by receiving the majority of the votes in the election, and wish him great success in this sacred duty that we believe he will fulfill properly and offer our support.
On this occasion, we reiterate our call for our country to immediately correct the unilateral practices that it has implemented in the mufti issue, disregarding the treaties to which Greece is a party, and to bring a solution to the issue in direct dialogue and consultation with the Western Thrace Turkish Community."
