In the statement made by the Headquarters of the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association regarding the general elections to be held on Sunday, May 21, "As in every election, of course, our preference will be towards minority parliamentary candidates and it should be! However, the Minority Deputies we will elect must defend the identity of the minority more vigorously, fervently and bravely beyond absorbing the identity of the minority.” it was said.
Pointing out that the Turkish minority deputies to be elected should act together with the Advisory Board and respect their decisions and principles as a member of the council, the press statement addressed the minority voters and said, “The political stance, cause, aspirations and principles of the minority are wanted to be changed on some individuals. Don't be a tool or give an opportunity to it." it was said.
BTDD's press release is as follows:
DEAR WESTERN THRACIANS, WE ARE GOING TO ELECTION ON MAY 21…
As in every election, of course, our preference will be in the direction of minority parliamentary candidates, and it should be so! However, the MINORITY MEPs we will elect must defend the identity of the minority with violence, fervor and courage beyond assimilation of the identity of the minority. For example:
Even if he refrains from mentioning the identity of the minority in the parliament, he should be able to express this in his holiday greetings to the minority press, in his social media accounts, in his statements or in public addresses.
The cornerstone of the minority should not be at odds with the institutions, they should be able to visit, participate in their activities, and when they find the environment, they should be able to voice the injustice they were exposed to in 1983 and even demand that they regain their rights.
He should show the courage to act together with the Advisory Board of which he will be a member, and should respect its decisions and principles as a member of the board.
He should not share his minority privacy with foreign missions in order to gain rank, nor should it be made public by radio. Because those who do this look like a wolf in sheep's clothing in the eyes of the minority people.
It should not deceive the voters through perceptions. The main problems of the minority like the Mufti, the Administration of Foundations, education, etc. should be at the forefront of defending our rights beyond showing a parallel attitude with the attitude and stance of the minority people on issues. This attitude should not change in normal days, oil lamps or holidays.
While solving a problem, he should not seek political profit by appropriating the people or institutions with whom he has partnered after the problem is solved, saying "I did", deceiving the rights of his stakeholders, and carving the event for himself. Whoever is involved in the solution should openly share it with his voters.
Especially with the efforts of dozens of people, the small aids offered by the state to the farmers and the agricultural supports that the EU-supported social state is already convicted of, should not force our people to be grateful by saying "it's mine".
The deputy should not look down on the poor voters by pocketing what the farmer voters get in a year and should not act as if he gave the help to fill the fuel tank of the tractor once from his own pocket.
Each deputy must share his assets presented to the parliament with the voters in a transparent and understandable manner according to the years, so that it should be understood by everyone whether he sees politics as a profession or as a service to the public. In short, it should be obvious who eats the talcum and who eats the bunch.
The representatives of the homeland, who observe the rights of the minority according to Lausanne and the principles of reciprocity, should show the respect shown by the minority people. The minority is sensitive in this regard…
No matter which government he/she is a member of, he should be aware that from time to time high-level visits from the homeland to our region are to observe the situation of the minority on the spot and should not utter bad words during these visits. These visits are essential for our people to feel that they are not alone and to gather strength.
He/she should not use the method of perception to create victimization from trivial matters, and use this victimization to open doors that he cannot open for life or to strengthen his political position.
He/she should know that to say that I am a minority parliamentarian at the time of the election, making literature and saying that I am a parliamentarian of the majority who did not even vote for him after the election, is to lay a string of flour.
The deputy should be open to the criticism of the voters and the press. It should not bring criticism to court or frighten people with the court. Doing this and saying that I am a democrat or claiming that I will bring democracy to the region is a tragicomic situation.
If journalists and members of the media, who are trying to put the notables of the minority on trial or expel them from these lands, are defending the minority parliamentary candidate in a candid way, both the candidate and the voters should think very carefully.
Brothers and sister of Western Thrace minority, think before you cast the ballot on May 21!
The political stance, cause, aspirations and principles of the minority are sought to be changed on some individuals.
