British newspaper selects photo of Turkish women in Zeynelli as 'Photo of the Day'
The well-known British newspaper awarded the "Photo of the Day", which it selects every day among news agencies and various media organisations from around the world, to the photograph of the women in the news report published yesterday (Friday, 29 March) by Ayhan Mehmet, Greece correspondent of Anadolu Agency. The photograph was featured on The Guardian's website.
Ayhan Mehmet, who posted on his social media account on the subject, made the following statements "My photo of Turkish women in Zeynelli village of Xanthi in Western Thrace, showing their preparations for a collective iftar event, has been selected as the photo of the day in The Guardian. I hope that this photo's presence on an international platform will help this small and forgotten region and its inhabitants to be recognised worldwide."
