Boğaziçi University Students Association organise iftar in Şahin village
Boğaziçi University Students Association (BURA), which has been coming to Western Thrace from Türkiye for about 20 years, organised an iftar programme in the village of Şahin in Xanthi on Saturday 23 March.
The iftar programme in Şahin village was held at Karaca Ayşe Cultural Centre. The guests from Türkiye were welcomed by Oktay Hoçka, President of Şahin Education and Culture Association and members of the Board of Directors. The guest delegation, headed by BURA Association Board Member Mehmet Gökay Üstün, was warmly welcomed in Şahin village. On the same night, Şahin Education and Culture Association organised a sahur programme for the guest delegation.
The iftar programme in the village of Şahin was attended by Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, as well as Vice Consul Baris Çulha representing the Consulate General of Turkey in Komotini, Xanthi MPs Hüseyin Zeybek and Burhan Baran, FEP Party President Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Deputy State President İrfan Hacıgene, Mayor of Mustafçova Ahmet Kurt, Deputy Mayor Mithat Kabur, State President Counsellor Salih Yörük, State Assembly Members İbrahim Amuçka and Fatih İsmailko, President of Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association Hüseyin Baltacı, President of Çınar Association Cengiz Ömer, Religious Officials of Şahinli and other guests attended the event.
Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, who attended the iftar programme, thanked the BURA delegation for such an organisation in his village Şahin and expressed his satisfaction for their meaningful visit to our region. In his speech, BURA Association Board Member Mehmet Gökay Üstün, the head of the visiting delegation, expressed his satisfaction and gratitude for the intense interest and warm welcome shown to them by the people of Şahin.
On the other hand, Oktay Hoçka, President of Şahin Education and Culture Association, expressed his pleasure to host the members of BURA Association once again in Şahin village.
After the sahur programme and the morning prayer at Şahin Karaca Ahmet Mosque, BURA delegation left Şahin village to return to Türkiye.
