Bluefarm in Western Thrace launches beekeeping initiative to support sustainable agriculture

Bluefarm, an organic blueberry and cherry producer operating in Western Thrace under the leadership of DCT Trading Company, has taken a new step toward ecological responsibility by introducing beehives to its production sites. The initiative aims to protect the natural balance and contribute to sustainable agriculture.

SUPPORTING POLLINATORS AND BIODIVERSITY
In a statement released by Bluefarm, the company emphasized its commitment to enhancing environmental sustainability through this initiative. “We aim to preserve the natural balance and support sustainable farming by integrating beekeeping into our production areas,” the statement read.

YAKA IKE, a partner company specializing in cherry production, echoed these goals in their own statement: “Bees are the unsung heroes of agricultural production. In recent years, bee populations have come under threat due to climate change, pesticide use, and habitat loss. As Bluefarm, we are taking a proactive step by installing beehives in our fields.”

The company also underlined that their pesticide and field maintenance practices are carefully managed to avoid harming the bees. “By harnessing the unique power of bees, we not only protect the ecosystem but also enhance our agricultural processes. We remain committed to advancing sustainable agriculture,” the statement concluded.
