Antonis Gravanis, President of Komotini Dinata, the main opposition in the Municipality of Komotini, and his team continue to insist on the disclosure of the financial management of the municipality's Directorate of Water and Sewerage Administration (DEYAK).

The main opposition, which is investigating and questioning why the financial budget of DEYAK is not disclosed openly and transparently, made a statement on the subject and stated the following:

"We insisted on the non-open and non-transparent financial management of the Directorate of Water and Sewerage Administration of the Municipality of Komotini (DEYAK) with more than one question in another municipal council, remaining faithful to our principles of legality and transparency.

For months, the documents and financial management data of DEYAK have been requested by all opposition groups and the head of DEYAK has chosen "tacit refusal".

Mr Tsakiridis' admission that DEYAK's balance sheets have not been audited, published, and approved by certified public accountants since 2019 was very serious. Mr Garanis also said in his radio interview that "DEYAK did not close the balance sheets it was supposed to close!"

The approval and publication of balance sheets is a legal obligation of the administration and is a matter of good governance.

No matter how much the mayor may try to downplay the reality, the matter is extremely serious and unique in self-administrative data as it concerns the financial management of DEYAK for four whole years and the publication of its progress.

All of the above, coupled with the hundreds of thousands of euros in direct appointments for contractors and project contracts made shortly before the elections (in the last city council alone, they decided on three direct appointments totalling 90 thousand euros plus VAT), requires information from the DEFAK administration to the city council.

As the main opposition, we have pressed in this direction and sent an official document requesting information from the Director of the WEFAK Administration.

The questions that need to be answered are the following:

1. Why are the balance sheet, financial statements and financial data requested by the municipal councillors not provided and withheld?

2. Why were the balance sheets of DEYAK for the years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 not approved by the administration, not audited by certified public accountants and not published by the administration, even though this is clearly an obligation of the administration according to the legislation?"
