Another Turkish Minority School, another ban
Gökçeler Youth Association of Xanthi province could not hold the 'Summer Fun' event in the garden of the Turkish minority primary school last night due to the obstacle.
In line with their previous preparations Gökçeler Youth Association management and youth were going to organize a 'Summer Fun' event in the village school garden yesterday evening (Friday, September 2, 2022)
Although the management of the association obtained all the necessary permissions for the event to be held in the garden of the minority primary school, the event was blocked by Efmorfia Stilyanidu, the Principal of Xanthi Primary Education.
While the preparations were made in the garden of Gökçeler Minority Primary School, the decision of Xanthi Primary Education Director Stilyanidu prevented the event from being held just hours before the event.
Principal Stilyanidu, with similar decisions, had banned and prevented the use of the gardens of minority primary schools for public events in many minority villages for mass events.
The young people, who were astonished by the unfair practice, said that they did not expect to encounter such an application.
On the other hand, the fact that many public school gardens in the city center are open for events in the old city of Xanthi, barbecues are set up, pork is cooked and entertained for a week reveals the injustice done to the Turkish minority youth as an example of "discrimination" and "oppression".
