13-year-old Ahmet Kuru, a first grade student at Komotini Celal Bayar Minority Secondary School, won the gold medal at the Greek Wrestling Championship held in Larisa city on Sunday, March 10.

Ahmet Kuru, an athlete of Komotini Dimokritio Wrestling Club, took to the mat with the wrestlers of the K15 group, which includes wrestlers older than his age, in the championship.

Ahmet, a successful wrestler who knew no rivals in his category even though he was younger than his rivals in terms of age, defeated his opponents one by one and came first in the championship and won the gold medal.

Even though he is still young, Ahmet Kuru will represent the Greek National Team in the European Wrestling Championship to be held in Athens, as a result of his success with his determination and struggle.

In the sport of wrestling, which he started at the age of 9, Ahmet Kuru, in addition to the gold medal he won in Larisa, also managed to win medals in the tournaments held in Crete Island in Greece and Dimitrovgrad in Bulgaria.

Evaluating Ahmet Kuru's success in the championship to MİLLET, School Principal Tunalp Mehmet stated that his student Ahmet's success made both him, the school administration, teachers and council members happy. Principal Mehmet wished success to his student, who will represent Greece in the European Wrestling Championship with his success.
