Ahmet Kurt: “No payment was made for the event at Dolaphan Middle School”
Mayor of Mustafçova Municipality, Ahmet Kurt, issued a written statement regarding allegations surrounding the “Kalanta” event and New Year decorations held at Dolaphan Middle School in the İskeçe region. Addressing the public via his social media account, Kurt emphasized that no payment was made by the municipality for the said event.
Mayor Kurt stated that the claims circulating in recent days concerning Dolaphan Middle School do not reflect the truth, arguing that the process has been deliberately distorted and constitutes defamation.
“Payment Request Was Explicitly Rejected”
Kurt explained that a request had been submitted to him for approval to pay an invoice related to New Year decorations at Dolaphan Middle School. However, he noted that the request was clearly and decisively rejected, as the content and scope of the invoice were deemed inappropriate. He underlined that no payment whatsoever was made in relation to this invoice.
Referring to the official documentation, Kurt stated that the situation was recorded under the Greek term “ΑΝΤΙΛΟΓΙΣΜΟΥ ΠΟΣΟΥ”, which translates into Turkish as “offsetting/deduction of the amount.” He added that this was clearly documented in an official record bearing the signature and stamp of the Head of Financial Services, Mitika Maria.
Given the existence of these official documents, Kurt described claims that “a payment was made” not as political criticism, but as a deliberate act of slander.
Criticism of the Main Opposition Leader
Mayor Kurt also criticized Rıdvan Delihüseyin, leader of the main opposition list, accusing him of conducting politics based on rumors rather than documents. He stated that attempts were being made to damage both the municipality and his personal reputation, adding that such efforts were neither the first nor the last.
Emphasizing that he is fully aware of his duties, authority, and responsibilities as mayor, Kurt stated that he has never signed, and will never sign, any expenditure he does not find appropriate. He stressed that the municipality is fully accountable for every single cent, and that it would not be handed over to a political mindset based on defamation and hate rhetoric.

Addressing opposition leader Rıdvan Delihüseyin directly, Kurt concluded his statement by saying:
“As a mayor, I am fully aware of my duties, authority, and responsibilities. You, as an opposition leader, should also be aware of your responsibility and, instead of chasing positions, try to contribute something—at least while in opposition—to this honorable people. As the saying goes, ‘A person is judged by their actions, not their words.’ Witnessing your lack of this virtue is yet another example of failing to escape the judgment of history.”
