24 November Teachers' Day celebrated in Western Thrace
24 November Teachers' Day was celebrated with an event organized by the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers' Union. Turkish teachers who have worked and are working in Western Thrace Turkish minority schools participated in the event.
Teachers, local administrators, politicians, representatives of non-governmental organizations and many guests from all regions of Western Thrace attended the event held at the Egnatia Entertainment Center in Komotini on Thursday, November 24.
The event, which was held on the occasion of November 24, Teachers' Day, started with a moment of silence for all teachers who have passed away. Afterwards, the teachers participating in the event sang the teacher's anthem together.
The program continued with protocol speeches.
The opening speech was made by Aydın Ahmet, the head of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers' Union, the organizer of the event.
Later, the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and the Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif and finally the Turkish Consul General to Komotini, Murat Ömeroğlu, who did not leave the teachers alone at night, made a greeting speech.
After the speeches, BTTÖB President Aydın Ahmet presented a plaque to Turkish Consul General of Komotini Murat Ömeroğlu.
On the other hand, FEP Party Honorary Chairman Işık Sadık Ahmet presented a plaque to Chairman Aydın Ahmet.
In the continuation of the program, Music Teacher Mümin Ali and his students took the stage and gave a folk song concert.
Folk dances took the stage after the mini folk song concert, which gave joyful moments to the guests.
Firstly, the Xanthi Turkish Union adult folk dance group took the stage and presented a folk dance show.
Afterwards, the Komotini Turkish Youth Union Folk Dance Team, led by Erkan Demiroğulları, took the stage and performed folk dances.
Finally, the Xanthi Turkish Union Folk Dance Team, led by Gökhan Mustafa and Tülin Hacıhalil, took the stage and gave a show that garnered great applause, adding color to the 24 November Teachers' Day event.
Türkiye's Consul General to Komotini Murat Ömeroğlu, Vice Consul Barış Çulha, Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif, Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa, FEP Party Chairman Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Former FEP Party Chairman Mustafa Aliçavuş, FEP Party Honorary Chairman Işık Sadık Ahmet, Xanthi SYRIZA Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek, EMT State Vice President Tarkan Multaza, Komotini Turkish Youth Union President Sedat Hasan, Kozlukebir Municipality Council President Cengiz Şerif, Western Thrace Culture and Education Company President Hüseyin Bostancı, BAKEŞ General Manager Pervin Hayrulla and Rhodope Province Prevention Against Addiction and Mental Health Center ORFEAS Chairman of the Board Sibel Mustafaoğlu were among the attendees.
