2023 Seçek Oil Wrestling and Cultural Events programme been announced
The 7 centuries-old Seçek Oil Wrestling and Cultural Events of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace will take place on 4-5-6 August.
The historical Seçek Oil Wrestling and Cultural Events, one of the deep-rooted traditions of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and organised by the Seçek Minority Education and Culture Association, will be held this year on 4-5-6 August at Mehrikoz football field.
2023 Seçek Oil Wrestling and Cultural Events will start with the Mevlid-i Şerif to be recited on Friday, 4 August and Mehmet İbrahim will be the head of the event.
In the events that will last for three days, both wrestlers from Western Thrace and wrestlers from our country Greece, our motherland Türkiye and other neighbouring countries will wrestle in the wrestling arena.
As in previous years, thousands of Western Thracian cognates who will participate in the events this year will be able to watch oil wrestling competitions, folklore performances and different activities, as well as concerts of important artists in the evening.
This year, Turkey's famous sound group Kolpa will give a concert on Saturday evening, 5 August, and Eren Özütemiz, the son of the deceased singer Kıvırcı Ali, whose folk songs everyone loves to listen to, will give a concert on Sunday evening, 6 August.
