Executives from minority institutions meet with American diplomats22 October 2020The United States (USA) Thessaloniki Consul General Elizabeth K. Lee and Charge d'affaires David Burger met with the executives of minority institutions in Komotini on Tuesday, 20 October 2020.

American diplomats met with the delegation consisted of Friendship Equality Peace (DEB) Party Chairman Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Western Thrace Minority Higher Education Association (BTAYTD) President Hüseyin Baltacı, and Western Thrace Minority Culture Education Company (BAKEŞ) General Manager Pervin Hayrullah.

According to the statement made by the FEP Party, the general situation of the Western Thrace Turkish minority was discussed. Representatives of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority were informed to the guest delegation about the problems related to minority education, the failure of Greece to implement the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, especially the Xanthi Turkish Union, the identity problem, the problems of the mufti, the expectations of the Turkish minority from the government, and especially the economic problems of the minority.
