“Turkish and Greek will continue to be on both sides of this water”
AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Bülent Turan met with the party members and citizens in the Bozcaada program.
AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Bülent Turan, regarding the visit of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias to Çanakkale’s Gökçeada district, said, “The right of neighborliness is something else. If we have been neighbors in this land for millennia, we will continue to be neighbors.
They will go tomorrow, but both Turks and Greeks will continue to be on both sides of this water.” said. Turan, who came to Çanakkale’s Bozcaada district, was greeted by AK Party District President Sinem Tabak and party members at İskele Square and chatted with the citizens.
Turan, who moved to the new building of his party’s district organization, said in his speech that they were happy that they brought a building to Bozcaada as a property belonging to their party. Wishing the building to be beneficial, Turan stated that they expect intense work tempo from the Bozcaada organization during the election process.
Turan, who also made evaluations on the agenda, said that he sadly saw that people and parties whose names are Islamist, idealist and nationalist march shoulder to shoulder with the HDP in a 6-member structure.
Reminding that the 22nd High Criminal Court of Ankara made an important decision regarding the October 6-8 incidents yesterday, Turan continued his words as follows: “Based on the fact that around 50 of our people died that day, calling people to the streets in the East, calling for action and taking an undemocratic step, they took a non-democratic step. T
he indictment of those who caused the loss of lives of many people was announced. Many people, especially Selahattin Demirtaş, who made that invitation were demanded to be punished. But the man tweeted from the prison and said, ‘I will destroy that decision after May 14.’ No member of the 6-party table responded. He did not say, ‘How do you speak, are you a judge, are you a judge?’ but we have to take steps together on important issues such as terrorism and border security in fundamental values.”

Turan, who attended the iftar dinner organized by the AK Party Bozcaada District Presidency after his visit, expressed his happiness to be on the island.
Pointing out that Bozcaada is an important geography where Turkish and Greek citizens have lived together for years. Turan also reminded the visit of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias to Gökçeada district of Çanakkale.
Noting that not only Muslims but also Greek citizens living in the district attended the dinner in this iftar program, Turan said:
“We also have Christian citizens in this city with which we live together and share our streets. The Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs came to Gökçeada yesterday and visited our church there.
He visited our Greek schools there. and gave very valuable messages of friendship. I would like to invite the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, who came to Gökçeada from Bozcaada yesterday. “Please come to Bozcaada”. There are our Greek citizens here, too. There is church here. The bell tower that we restored just last month have very precious memories, especially in Europe. We are not and should not be the toy of countries with other plans, especially Europe. The right to neighborhood is something else. If we have been neighbors in this land for millennia, we will continue to be neighbors. Those who come from thousands of kilometers away, those who stand on our border. They will go tomorrow, but both Turks and Greeks will continue to be on both sides of this water. The tension here is not helping anyone. Fighting doesn’t help anyone here. Just as we live shoulder to shoulder with the Greeks in Bozcaada as brothers and sisters, we can build this in our entire country, in our geography.”

Explaining that Easter, one of the most precious holidays of Christians, is celebrated, Turan said, “We celebrate Easter from this fast-breaking table for them.
