Greek tourists visit their ancestral village, dance halay at the fountain where weddings were held in the past
A group of Greeks visiting Şerbettar village in Havsa district of Edirne visited the fountain where henna and weddings were held in the past and accompanied the songs played on bagpipes.
Visitors travelling by buses from Greece to Edirne drink water from the fountain in order to fulfil the traditions of their ancestors in Şerbettar village of Havsa district and accompany the songs played in front of the fountain accompanied by bagpipes.
A group of Greeks visiting the village visited the fountain where henna and weddings were held in the past.
Tourists, who danced halay at the fountain, took plenty of photos.
In the village, which is a former Greek and Gagauz village, it was stated that henna and weddings were held at the fountain according to the traditions in the past.
In order to restore the historical fountain, which was built in the 1830s and registered as a cultural asset, in 2022, Havsa District Governorship initiated a study and the survey and restitution project of the historical fountain was completed.
