Greece eases visa procedures for Turkish Citizens with ‘Cascade’ system
According to Kosmos Visa Services, the “Cascade” system took effect on July 15, 2025. It applies to Turkish travelers who have previously held Schengen visas and used them in compliance with the rules, granting them “trusted traveler” status. Qualified applicants will benefit from faster processing and easier approval. However, the program does not extend to truck drivers.
Greece: top choice for Turkish applicants
EU statistics show that in 2024, Greece was the most preferred Schengen destination for Turkish citizens, receiving 296,377 visa applications. Germany followed with 215,506 applications, while France ranked third with 151,640. At the other end of the spectrum, Latvia, Estonia, and Portugal received the fewest applications from Turkey.
The reintroduction of “Cascade” is expected to further encourage short-term travel from Türkiye to Greece, especially for tourism and business.
