"Friendship Bridge" project is ready for tender!
The projects of the "Friendship Bridge" to be built at the Ipsala-Kipi border gates connecting Türkiye and Greece have been prepared and are expected to be delivered in June. It is stated that the tender process will start after the delivery of the projects.
The construction of the new Ipslala-Kipi border foam is estimated to take at least two years.
Konstantinos Koutsoukos, General Manager of Egnatia Motorway Inc. said that the project of the New Kipi-Ipsala Border Bridge, which will connect Greece and Turkey and will be called "Friendship Bridge", is ready and the inspections are expected to be completed by the end of June.
"Following the submission of the study, which will be completed by the end of June, we hope that the tender documents for the constructions on both the Greek and Turkish side will be ready within the next six months."
The 800-metre-long bridge is to be built on both sides of the Egnatia Motorway Inc.
The Joint Project Planning and Monitoring Committee, consisting of officials from the Ministries of Infrastructure of the two countries and representatives of the Egnatia Motorway, held its 9th meeting on Wednesday 17 April in Thessaloniki.
Making statements within the scope of the meeting, Koutsoukos, General Manager of Egnatia Motorway Inc. emphasised the importance of the new bridge project on the Greek-Turkish border.
Koutsoukos said that the Turkish side sees the project as a gateway to Europe, while the Greek side sees it as a step towards development, adding that the new bridge will provide great benefits to the transport of both countries.
Koutsoukos also stated that the two countries are working in very close co-operation on the project and that a joint team has been formed in this context.
Stating that the construction of the bridge is a very difficult project, General Manager Koutsoukos said that they estimate that the construction phase will take at least two years.
