Secondhand smoke linked to 1.7 million deaths worldwide

Nearly 1.7 million people worldwide died in 2023 from illnesses linked to secondhand smoke, while more than 2.7 billion people were exposed to tobacco smoke, according to a study published in The Lancet Public Health.
