Saran calls extraordinary congress amid pressure at Fenerbahçe
Turkish Football Club Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran has decided to convene an extraordinary elective general assembly to seek a renewed mandate, just three months after winning the club’s presidency.
The move follows increased legal scrutiny after Saran was placed under judicial control as part of a narcotics investigation. Saran has denied any wrongdoing and requested a retest, saying he has never used illicit substances.
Elected in September 2025 by a narrow margin over former president Ali Koç, Saran’s leadership has drawn strong support from fans and senior club figures, who have urged stability during the season.
The extraordinary congress is expected to be held toward the end of the 2025–26 season, after the Süper Lig campaign, to avoid disrupting football operations.
Saran has confirmed he will stand for re-election.
An official announcement on the timeline is expected soon.
