Coach of Eyüpspor Arda Turan was sentenced to 1 year in prison for two different offences of tax evasion from the Spanish finance in 2015 and 2016, when he played for Atletico Madrid and Barcelona during his football career.

Arda Turan, who was accused of tax evasion from the Spanish Finance in 2015 and 2016, was sentenced to a total of 1 year in prison for 6 months for each offence in the case held at the Criminal Court No. 13 of the Barcelona Palace of Justice.

It is learned that Arda Turan's sentence was postponed upon the request of the prosecutor's office and the acceptance of both the State Attorney's Office and defence lawyers, on condition that he does not commit any crime for two years, and Turan will not go to prison.

Turan, who stated that he had paid the fines of 303 thousand 162 euros from 2015 and 330 thousand euros from 2016, was ordered to pay the remaining debt of 617 thousand 773 euros in 6 instalments.

It was also stated that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and Turan's lawyers supported the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's proposal that the sentence be suspended for two years on condition that he does not commit any offences during this period.

In the document prepared by the prosecutor's office, it was announced that Arda Turan "did not show his personal income and evaded the obligation to pay taxes in Spain, despite having the status of personal income taxpayer in Spain and earning significant income in 2015". AA
