In Kilkis province of Central Macedonia Province, three people were caught with approximately 307 thousand packs of smuggled cigarettes that they loaded onto a truck to export abroad.
According to AMNA, three people, aged 35, 56 and 62, were caught hiding smuggled cigarettes in fabric rolls and loading them into a truck in the Oreokastro region of Kilkis province.
The police stated that a total of 306,770 smuggled cigarette packages, whose market value is estimated to be approximately 1 million euros, were hidden in fabric rolls and were intended to be sold to France with fake invoices.
Police teams caught the three people who loaded the smuggled cigarettes into the truck at the scene, arrested them and referred them to the prosecutor's office.
Illegal cigarettes and the truck were seized.
The investigation into where the smuggled cigarettes were obtained is carried out together by expert customs officers and police teams.
