The profile of the MEP candidates - Who are asking for our vote on Sunday
Men in their fifties, lawyers, university graduates, doctors and journalists are the most popular profiles of the candidates who make up the Greek parties' European candidates, according to a new policy paper by the Centre for Liberal Studies (KEFIM).
According to the main conclusions of the analysis and in the total number of candidates, 58% are men, 42% are women.
The average age is 53 for male candidates and 50 for female candidates.
36% have a university degree (no postgraduate degree), 22% have a master's degree and 19% have a doctorate.
The most popular professions among the candidates are those of lawyer and university graduate (8.4%), followed by doctor (7.8%), journalist (7.5%) and artist (6.5%). Finally, 18% of the candidates have been re-elected in previous elections (municipal, national or European), while 13% have been appointed to a political position.
By party: the highest percentage of female candidates are from SYRIZA and New Left (50%), while the lowest are from ND, PASOK, Hellenic Solution and Niki (38%).
The highest average age is for the candidates of New Left (55.1 years) and ND (54.4 years), while the lowest is for SYRIZA (48 years).
The largest percentage of candidates with a doctorate is from the New Left (38%), the largest percentage of candidates with a bachelor's degree and a master's degree is from PASOK (38%), while the largest percentage of candidates with only a bachelor's degree is from KKE (62%).
