According to the survey conducted by the Consumer Workers Union of the Greek Confederation of Trade Unions (GSEE), the daily life of Greeks has changed significantly due to the high cost of living. Habits that were normal until yesterday, such as cooking, washing, and ironing, are now considered luxury.

According to the survey conducted by the Consumer Workers Union of the Greek Confederation of Trade Unions (GSEE), the daily life of Greeks has changed significantly due to the high cost of living. Habits that were normal until yesterday, such as cooking, washing, and ironing, are now considered luxury.

According to the results of the survey conducted between January 10 and February 10, consumers who have greatly reduced the heating rate of their homes reach 86.8 percent. 8 out of 10 people prefer to wear thicker clothes to avoid heating costs. The rate of those who reduce the temperature of the house or turn it off completely during the night's sleep is 91.3 percent.

While 40 percent of consumers reduce the number of showers, the majority (73.5%) prefer to take a quick shower instead of a bath.

The rate of those who say that they avoid using the electric oven is 74.4 percent, and the rate of those who say that they reduce their daily cooking is 57 percent.

It is noteworthy that 79.4 percent of those who prefer to wash dishes by hand instead of using the dishwasher constitute a rate of 73.7 percent of those who reduce the use of ironing.

83% answered “no” to the question “Do you use the 'Family Basket' for shopping?” 

Consumers consider meeting food expenses from the family budget as their primary need (73.2%). A secondary but equally important need is healthcare costs (59.8%). This is followed by heating (54.3%) and paying the rent/housing loan (53.9%).

The rate of those who say that personal care (70.2%), clothing (76.10%) and entertainment (77.4%) are unimportant or moderately important is also quite high.

While the rate of those who restrict traveling with their vehicles is 77.3 percent, there is a significant decrease in purchasing food (55.6%) and other basic necessities (65.10%).

6 out of 10 consumers cannot go on vacation even for one week a year. 56.2 percent have not taken a vacation in the last three years or at all.

41.3 percent of respondents say they consume meat once a week, 52.3 percent consume fish once a week, and 55.9 percent consume poultry once a week.

7 out of 10 respondents prefer to buy food based on promotions or the lowest price.

Almost all of the consumers (91.5%) want to buy the product directly from the manufacturer.
