Summer was third hottest in Greece in 65 years

This summer was the third hottest recorded since 1960, according to the meteorological service Meteo.

A scientific team at Meteo examined data related to climate analysis, concluding that the summer of 2025 was 1.5°C above the average temperature between 1991 and 2020.

June 2025 was recorded as the second warmest since 1960, while July was the fourth warmest. August was closer to normal levels for the season. The summer of 2025 was very similar to that of 2021, and only 0.3°C cooler than the second warmest, 2012.

The warmest summer remains, by a large margin, last year’s summer of 2024.

The average temperature in Greece during the summer period increased by 2.4°C from 1960 to 2025.
