Problems in Preveza due to Sunday's torrential rain

Problems in many areas of Preveza were caused by the intense weather phenomena that started late on Sunday afternoon and continued until the early morning hours in the prefecture.

Torrential rain turned many streets into rivers, while the Fire Department received calls to pump water from basements and ground floors in the city of Preveza.

Similar operations were also carried out in the areas of Ammoudia and Filippiada.

Due to the strong winds, trees fell on the streets and the Fire Department was called to cut down trees and restore traffic.

Due to the intense lightning activity, damage was caused to the electricity network, resulting in power outages. HEDNO crews have been working since Sunday night to repair the damage.

Problems from the wave of bad weather that is affecting areas of Western Greece and the Peloponnese were caused in Aitoloakarnania and Arcadia.

According to the Fire Department, due to the heavy rainfall in the wider area of Vonitsa, basements and roads were flooded, resulting in approximately 10 calls to pump out water. At the same time, the fire brigade remains on standby due to the weather phenomena.

In the meantime, due to the heavy rainfall in areas of Arcadia and Messinia, problems were caused in the movement of vehicles on the Corinth - Tripoli - Kalamata highway.

Specifically, according to the Police, the highway was closed for a short time at the height of the area of Paradisia, in Arcadia, until the problems are repaired and the movement of vehicles is now carried out normally.

Also, by decision of the municipality of Megalopolis in Arcadia, schools will remain closed today, due to the bad weather.
