Scam cases against elderly people becoming an avalanche in the region

They snatched 45,000 euros in cash from a woman in Alexandroupoli convincing her that a relative needs surgery due to being involved in a car accident

Investigations are underway by the Police Authorities to locate and arrest hitherto unknown perpetrators, who on Thursday 24-2-2022 in the afternoon, deceived an elderly woman in Alexandroupolis. More specifically, an unknown perpetrator, pretending to be a doctor, contacted the elderly woman by phone and, claiming that a relative of hers had been injured in a car accident, asked her for money for immediate surgery.

In this way, the perpetrator managed to persuade the elderly woman to hand over the amount of 45,000 euros to an unknown accomplice, who went outside the victim's house, received the money and fled in an unknown direction. The preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Alexandroupolis Security Sub-Directorate
