Save the children: Conditions in migrant camps in Greece are concerning
The international non-governmental organization Save The Children has reported that conditions in camps housing migrant children in Greece are "concerning."
Based on research conducted between April and July 2024 in various migrant camps across Greece, Save The Children prepared a detailed report.
The report highlights that children lack access to basic protection services, face poor hygiene conditions, and live in isolation, which raises significant concerns. It further states that children are fed expired food and reside in accommodations far below European standards.
The organization called on the European Union and the Greek government to take urgent action.
Out of approximately 58,000 migrants and refugees currently in Greece, around 13,000 are children.
