Record-breaking November rainfall in the Epir region of Western Greece
The Tzoumerka mountains in Epir (Ipiros) recorded the heaviest rainfall in Greece this November, exceeding 1,000 mm in just one month, according to data released on Monday.
Overall, Western Greece and the wider Ipiros region experienced significantly higher rainfall compared to the rest of the country, based on measurements from the extensive network of automated meteorological stations operated by meteo.gr and the National Observatory of Athens.
Four stations registered exceptionally high totals, each recording more than 800 mm of rainfall during November. Additionally, 13 stations logged over 600 mm, another 33 surpassed 400 mm, and 283 stations — representing 51% of all active monitoring sites — reported more than 100 mm of rain for the month.
