Prosecutor orders investigation into social media posts ahead of Tempe anniversary protests

The head of the Athens Prosecutor’s Office has ordered an investigation following social media posts allegedly inciting violence ahead of February 28, a day when demonstrations are expected across Greece to mark two years since the Tempe railway disaster.
A preliminary inquiry has been launched to determine whether the crime of incitement to commit unlawful acts has been committed.
Meanwhile, the police cybercrime division has been tasked with identifying the users responsible for the controversial posts.
The most recent demonstration regarding the Tempe railway disaster took place a month ago in central Athens, marking one of the largest protests in recent years.
The upcoming protest is expected to be just as massive, as a general strike has been declared for that day.
