Passenger brawl forces emergency landing in Thessaloniki
A flight from Manchester, UK, to Antalya, Turkiye, was forced to make an emergency landing in Thessaloniki late Monday night after a violent altercation broke out on board.
According to reports, a 35-year-old British passenger punched a 41-year-old Turkish traveler during the flight. The cause of the attack remains unclear.
With the safety of passengers at risk, the pilot diverted the aircraft to Macedonia Airport, landing at around 11 p.m. Local police immediately boarded the plane and arrested the unruly passenger.
The injured man was examined by an airport doctor before being allowed to continue his journey.
The suspect is expected to appear before a prosecutor on Tuesday, facing possible charges of dangerous interference with transportation, bodily harm, disobedience, and disturbing the peace.
