PASOK criticizes Andreas Loverdos’ move to New Democracy

PASOK officials sharply criticized Andreas Loverdos’ decision to join New Democracy, accusing the former PASOK MP and minister of attempting to undermine the party through his past actions.

“In 2024, before the European elections, he founded a party with the sole aim of depriving PASOK of second place. Over the past year, he has been parading on TV channels praising the government and endorsing its disgraceful and unconstitutional machinations,” stated the officials.

They further accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of resorting to illegal wiretaps in an effort to manipulate PASOK’s internal elections in 2024.

At the time, Loverdos ran for the party’s presidency but was unsuccessful, as incumbent Nikos Androulakis secured re-election and retained his leadership.

“The prime minister, who in 2021 attempted to manipulate PASOK’s internal elections by organizing illegal wiretaps, today welcomed Mr Loverdos,” they said.
