New Traffic Code: No more removal of license plates

The new Road Traffic Code exonerates the car and tightens penalties for offending drivers, confirming the Carandmotor.gr's reports.

The character of the new Road Traffic Code will be completely different, according to what was revealed to the Council of Ministers, fully confirming the reports of the Carandmotor.gr.

More specifically, the new Highway Code provides for a reform of penalties for road safety violations, but without having a punitive character. The aim is for drivers to comply, to impose fair penalties that correspond to the risk of each offence and to ensure the collection of fines.

The penalties, according to the new Traffic Code, will mainly concern the driver and will be proportional to the offences based on their classification in terms of their dangerousness, such as those that may cause a serious accident (eg violation of red lights, excessive speed or irregular overtaking, driving under the influence of alcohol), less dangerous offences (eg illegal parking) and administrative offences (e.g. driving without carrying legal documents). Particular attention is paid to vulnerable road users (pedestrians, transport of children, etc.) who have increased safety needs.
