Nea Aristera (New Left) has announced the appointment of Theopisti (Peti) Perka as the party’s new spokesperson. At the same time, Dimitris Tzanakopoulos has assumed the position of Secretary of the Parliamentary Group.

Political and Professional Background

Born and raised in Florina, Peti Perka is a Civil Engineer and graduate of the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she also completed postgraduate studies in transportation engineering.

Perka has maintained a continuous and active presence in left-wing politics, social movements, and civic activism since her student years. She previously served as a member of the Central Committee of Synaspismos and later of SYRIZA.

Throughout her career, she has held several prominent institutional roles, including:

  • Vice President and Secretary General of EMDDYAS (Engineers’ Union of the Public Sector)
  • Member of the Representation Assembly of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE)
  • Member of the Administrative Committee of TEE’s Macedonia Department
  • Contributor to the official report opposing gold mining in Halkidiki

She has worked in both the private and public sectors, including positions in regional planning and environmental services in Central Macedonia. Perka also served as Secretary General at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and later as Secretary General for Public Property at the Ministry of Finance.

Parliamentary Career

From July 2019 to November 2023, Perka served as MP for Florina with SYRIZA–Progressive Alliance and held the roles of Deputy Sector Head for Transport and for Environment & Energy within the parliamentary group. She was re-elected in the 2023 elections.

In December 2023, she contributed to the formation of Nea Aristera’s Parliamentary Group, where she served as Secretary. She is currently a member of the party’s Central Committee and now assumes responsibility as spokesperson.

Perka is also active in humanitarian initiatives, including participation in the “March to Gaza Greece” movement, the international March to Gaza mission in Egypt, and the Global Sumud Flotilla.

She is a mother of two children.
