New Democracy has reinstated Drama MP Dimitris Kyriazidis to its parliamentary group, Parliament announced on Wednesday, following a decision by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The announcement was read by First Deputy Speaker Giannis Plakiotakis.
With Kyriazidis’ return, the conservative party regains 156 seats in the 300-member legislature.
Kyriazidis was expelled in March after directing a sexist remark at Course of Freedom leader Zoe Konstantopoulou during a no-confidence debate. As Konstantopoulou spoke in Parliament, Kyriazidis shouted, “Go have a baby.” Mitsotakis later issued a public apology to Konstantopoulou on behalf of the party.
Opposition parties have yet to respond to the reinstatement.
