New Democracy can secure majority in next elections, says Marinakis
New Democracy (ND) aims to win an outright majority in the upcoming elections, and current opinion polls suggest this goal is within reach, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said in an interview with OPEN TV on Tuesday.
Marinakis emphasized that the government views polls as tools rather than predictions. He noted that while ND maintains a significant lead over the opposition in its second term, more effort is required to achieve its objectives. He described winning an outright majority as an achievable goal, contingent on the government’s hard work, humility, and effectiveness.
The spokesperson also criticized the main opposition party, PASOK-KINAL, and its leader, Nikos Androulakis, stating that cooperation is impossible with parties that have, in his view, adopted extremist rhetoric or aligned with SYRIZA on key votes.
Addressing farmers’ concerns, Marinakis said that payments have already begun and received the European Commission’s approval. He acknowledged delays in OPEKEPE and other areas, describing them as mistakes for which the government takes responsibility and is actively working to resolve.
Regarding the Hellenic Post (ELTA), he confirmed that financial measures have been explained and that a new restructuring plan will be presented soon. He assured citizens that no region will be left without services, no alternative solution unprovided, and no employee without a job.
