The nationwide civil defence alarm sirens will be tested throughout Greece on Wednesday, October 1st, as part of the military exercise "Parmenion-25", the Hellenic Police said on Monday.
As noted by the police, the activation of the civil defence alarm sirens is purely for the purpose of testing the system, and therefore there is no reason for the public to be alarmed or concerned.
At the same time as the sounding of the sirens, church bells across the country will also ring with a series of short, rapid tolls lasting three (3) minutes.
The sounding of the sirens will take place between 11:00 and 12:55, depending on location. A siren will signal the start of the alarm and another the end of it, with each lasting 60 seconds.
