Mitsotakis speak optimistically for bilateral relations after earthquakes
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that he believed that the positive atmosphere in bilateral relations after the earthquakes that affected 11 provinces, the epicenter of which is Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş, could lead to an improvement in Türkiye-Greece relations.
Answering the questions of the members of the press in Kozani, Mitsotakis expressed his satisfaction and pride in the search and rescue teams from Greece, saving lives in Türkiye.
Noting that Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu had made a note of his statements that there could be an improvement in bilateral relations, Mitsotakis said, "We have disagreements. These can be resolved in accordance with international law and in a way that respects good neighborly relations. Ultimately, I believe in the emotional bond between our peoples, which is also revealed by this tragedy. I really believe that maybe something better can come out of this drama for Turkish-Greek relations."
Noting that he believes the Greek people will continue to support the Turkish people, Mitsotakis stated that Greece will play its part as a neighboring country in the effort to rebuild the regions affected by the earthquake.
