MERA 25 Party calls for Greece and the EU to recognise the State of Palestine
In the statement made by the MERA 25 Party, the decision to recognise the State of Palestine by Norway, Spain and Ireland was welcomed and the same recognition by Greece and the whole EU was demanded.
The statement made by the party is as follows:
"MERA25 welcomes the recognition of the State of Palestine by Norway, Spain and Ireland. We also recall that in January 2021, MeRA25 requested from the Greek Parliament a corresponding recognition from Greece, which was voted unanimously at our 1st Negotiating Conference in June 2020.
Recognition of the State of Palestine may be a symbolic gesture as long as the Palestinian territories are occupied and Palestinians live and are killed under apartheid conditions, but it is an important gesture that puts serious pressure on the accomplices of the Palestinian genocide (the US government and the European Union administration).
In this context, our unifying initiative ΜΕΡΑ25 | The Destructive Ecological Left pledges to move heaven and earth in the European Parliament to ensure that the recognition of a Palestinian state is the tip of the spear against the furious efforts of Ursula von der Leyen and the entire war-mongering EU establishment to support Israel's genocidal agenda."
