Lawyers to walk off the job

Lawyers across Greece will hold a nationwide strike on Friday, March 14, to protest the taxation of self-employed professionals based on deemed income.

The strike coincides with a hearing at the Council of State regarding lawsuits challenging the controversial taxation system.

The Athens Bar Association announced the strike after expressing strong opposition to the government’s tax policies, which it claims worsen the financial conditions of professionals and harm key sectors of the economy.

The protest also targets the government’s failure to reduce VAT on judicial services and support the legal profession.
