Kasselakis proposes Albanian elective course

President of SYRIZA Party Stefanos Kasselakis suggested that Albanian language should be an elective subject in schools.

Kasselakis met with representatives of the Albanian community living in Greece at the party headquarters. Kasselakis suggested that Albanian be taught as an elective subject in schools in Greece. Kasselakis stated that the same should apply to Greek in schools across Albania.

Noting that the Albanian community living in Greece faces serious problems, Kasselakis said: "These people have no security. For example, their residence permits are extended for three years in order for them to stay in our country. However, the process required for the approval of residence permits takes about two and a half years. In other words, we are holding these people, with whom we live together in the same country, as hostages."
