Eid al-Adha is celebrated enthusiastically in Western Thrace. The Western Thrace Turkish Minority celebrates by following the social distance rules during the Eid al-Adha, just like during the Eid al-Fitr.
150 thousand Muslim Turkish Society living in the cities of Alexandroupoli, Komotini and Xanthi, located in the Western Thrace region of Greece, enjoyed the eid prayer in Eid al-Adha.
While the COVID-19 measures are tightened again in the country, all places of worship continue their activities by following the distance rules. The Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Community also enjoyed the feast prayer in accordance with all measures taken.
Western Thrace Muslim Turks came to the mosques considering all the issues suggested by the authorities before the eid. Both the statements of the mufti, the advice of the doctors and the rules determined by the state officials were strictly applied in the mosques. Those who came to the mosque came together with their prayer rugs and performed the eid prayers by observing the distance rules set by the officers in the mosques.
THE CONSUL GENERAL CELEBRATED THE EID IN İSKEÇE (XANTHI)
Turkish Consul General of Gümülcine (Komotini) Murat Ömeroğlu celebrated the Eid al-Adha with the Turks in İskeçe (Xanthi) this time. "We welcomed the Eid al-Adha together with our brothers in İskeçe" Ömeroğlu said in the statement of the consulate general on Facebook.
