Joint ministerial decision on afternoon surgeries signed on Tuesday

A joint ministerial decision to allow afternoon surgeries in public hospitals was signed on Tuesday by the Ministries of Health and of National Economy and Finance. These surgeries will be carried out after the regular operating hours of National Health System (ESY) hospitals.

The joint ministerial decision was signed by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, Deputy Health Minister Marios Themistokleous and Deputy Economy and Finance Minister Athanassios Petralias.

"From now on, thousands of patients who have been waiting months for an operation will be able to find a way out via the afternoon surgeries, at a cost that is much less than in private clinics. I strongly believe in this measure and believe it will be embraced immediately by both hospital staff and patients. We steadily continuing the reforms for a National Health System that meets the expectations of Greek citizens," Georgiadis said.
