The International Press Institute (IPI) noted that the 200,000-euro compensation lawsuit filed against the editor-in-chief of a news portal in Greece is alarming for the freedom of the press.

In the post on IPI's Twitter account, "It is a worrying situation for the freedom of the press that the chief physician of a public hospital in Chios filed a lawsuit against the experienced journalist of local media astraparis.gr, Yannis Stevis, for 200,000 euros." expression was used.

Stevis, who was a guest on a radio program, stated that the case was worrisome in terms of freedom of the press and emphasized that the psychological and economic costs of the case were high.

Stevis argued that he was subjected to a series of legal proceedings as a result of his journalistic work on exposing the waste of public money at Chios Hospital.
