Independent MP Michalis Hourdakis joins Movement for Democracy

Movement for Democracy announced on Tuesday that independent MP Michalis Hourdakis is joining the party and taking over as its spokesperson.

Haroudakis, professor of Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, was first elected in Parliament in Thessaloniki A constituency with the left-wing populist Course of Freedom party in June 2023 from which he was expelled by its leader, Zoi Konstantopoulou on 11 October that year.

After leaving the Course of Freedom party, he was the representative of the independent MPs in the Conference of Speakers of the House.

“By assuming the duties of spokesperson, Professor Michalis Hourdakis will strengthen the voice of the Movement, projecting our positions with clarity and determination, so that we can meet the expectations of citizens and plan together a better tomorrow,” Movement for Democracy, whose leader is Stefanos Kasselakis, said in a press release.
