Hellenic Navy officer dies during training

A 25-year-old Hellenic Navy lieutenant lost his life on Tuesday during a training session with the Underwater Demolition Command, a special warfare unit of the Greek Navy.

According to early reports, the officer collapsed while running. His death has not been linked to any underwater activity.

Immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered before the officer was transferred to Attiko Hospital in Athens’ west, where, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

An official investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the officer’s death.
