Heavy rain and storms to follow heatwave in Northern and Central Greece on Thursday

According to an emergency weather bulletin issued by the National Meteorological Service (EMY), the region will experience locally heavy rainfall and thunderstorms from the early morning until late at night. The storms may be accompanied by strong winds and isolated hail.
Central and eastern Macedonia are expected to face the most prolonged impact, with severe weather lasting throughout the day and into the night.
In western Macedonia and the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of Epirus, the worst conditions are anticipated around midday and continuing through the afternoon.
Thrace, in northeastern Greece, will likely be affected from midday until the evening, while the Sporades islands are forecast to see heavy rain from morning to early afternoon.
Thessaly and other parts of the central mainland should also brace for deteriorating conditions from mid-morning until early evening.
Authorities advise residents in affected areas to remain cautious, particularly in regions prone to flooding or strong winds.
