Habipoğlou: “Foreign Minister Dendias continues to deny the facts”
Halit Halit Habipoğlu, the President of the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF), reacted to the statements of Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias in Albania.
President Habipoğlu’s statement is as follow:
“Mr. Dendias, Minister of Foreign Affairs, once again claimed that our country's human rights record is flawless. Dendias preferred to show a stick under the hood rather than face the facts. He implied that if the Chamerian Albanian community voiced its problems, Greece would prevent Albania from joining the European Union (EU). This latest statement is a projection of our country's characteristic official policy, which specifically denies human rights violations against minorities.
Dendias' statement, which does not respect the diversity in our country and threatens to block the EU membership process of neighboring Albania, does not suit our country, which is a former member of the EU, which was built on democracy, human rights, rule of law and fundamental freedoms.”
