According to the news on canakkaledemokrat.com, shipowner Prokopiou, who sponsored the rebuilding of the Greek Primary School in Zeytinliköy in Gökçeada and the village cemetery, was observed to have been hosted as the special guest of Patriarch Bartholomew.

After the wealthy shipowner attended the mass, the Patriarch showed him around the Zeytinliköy Greek Primary School and the village cemetery, and afterwards it was learned that Mr. Prokopiou gave a lunch in honor of his wife, Mrs. Alexandra.

It was learned that the Greek billionaire brought to Gökçeada former Greek Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis, Malta Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg, former Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, and University Professor and former Deputy Minister Ioannis Valinakis.

THE TURKISH MINORITY SECONDARY SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL IN XANTHI IS ALSO WAITING FOR A TURKISH BILLIONAIRE SPONSOR FOR A NEW BUILDING

Following the news that the Greek billionaire sponsored the rebuilding of the Greek Primary School and the village cemetery in Zeytinliköy, Gökçeada, the question came to mind: “Which Turkish billionaire will sponsor the construction of the new building of the Turkish Minority Secondary School and High School in İskeçe?”

The students of the Turkish Minority Secondary School and High School in İskeçe have been continuing their education for years in an old building, which was converted into a school from a 200-year-old tobacco warehouse.

However, the inadequacies of the school building and the Greek administration ignoring the demands for a new school building cause interest in the school to decrease day by day. Currently, there are around 470 students in the school.

The Greek administration, which has not responded to the demand for a new school building by the Turks in İskeçe until today, provides every convenience for Turkish Minority students to enroll in state secondary schools and high schools.
