Greek-flagged passenger ferries remain docked in Patras and Igoumenitsa due to an ongoing strike by seafarers’ union PENEN, now extended until June 19.
The strike has disrupted major routes to Italy, especially during the busy summer travel period.
In Patras, four ferries from the ATTICA Group are not operating, while the German-flagged Akka continues sailing unaffected. Ro-Ro cargo ships are also operating normally.
In Igoumenitsa, the Greek-flagged Kydon remains in port, while Italian-flagged vessels maintain full service. The strike has left foreign-flagged ships temporarily monopolizing Greece–Italy ferry traffic, raising concerns over the resilience of the Greek ferry industry.
